YMCA Victoria in partnership with Moreland City Council, will kick off Active Week 2018 on Sunday 18 March with a fun run/walk before diving into a week of over 40 free activities, and concluding with a Swimming Extravaganza.
Active Moreland's Active Week is all about discovering new ways to be healthy and active.
For the fourth year in a row, The Active Moreland aquatic and leisure centres in collaboration with community partners, will provide a range of fun and free activities for people of all ages and abilities.
During the week beginning Monday 19 March, over 40 activities will be available to the public across the Moreland municipality. Activities will be conducted by both Active Moreland professionals, and community partners. Activity providers include AFL Victoria, Melbourne City Football Club, Newlands community hub and many more.
Free activities on offer include Mindfulness, ‘Ladies that Lift’, nutrition workshops and ‘come and try’ Adrenaline HIT sessions.
All proceeds fundraised from the Active Moreland Fun Run & Walk, and Active Moreland Swimming Extravaganza, will go towards supporting disadvantaged young people to access Active Moreland programs and facilities.
Fawkner Leisure Centre Manager and Active Week project lead Luke Harrison anticipates a fun week for people of all ages and abilities who can participate.
“With free activities being delivered throughout all areas of Moreland, we would love to see the community try something new in order to be healthy and active,” he said.
