On Saturday 19 January, Doveton Pool in the Park celebrated 50 years of being a hub for the Doveton community. With 20,000 attendances recorded each year, the City of Casey facility has been managed by YMCA Victoria for 23 consecutive years.

This valuable community asset isn’t just an outdoor pool, it is a space for education, health, wellbeing and community programs.

The milestone is also a strong reminder of the importance of water safety. Every year the pool supports swimming lessons and school sport activities with 11,000 children, across 30 local schools, learning and practicing important lifesaving skills.

YMCA Victoria are committed to ensure the facility is safely managed and support many community programs which have a positive impact on resident’s physical, social and mental health.

YMCA Centre Manager Susie Nogic is proud of the pool’s achievements.

“Over the 50 years, the Doveton Pool in the Park has become a thriving community hub for locals learning to swim, or cooling down with the family," said Susie.

“The space also supports amazing programs like Men of Doveton and community groups with VIC Swim and Lifesaving Victoria. The pool may have hit middle age, but it has no signs of slowing down by providing services and support to the Doveton area.”

The local community celebrated the birthday with free entry, water inflatables, a DJ, chill out zone, BBQ and waterslides.
