New YMCA Early Learning Centre and Kingswim learn to swim school in Clyde North

Teaching your kids to swim, socialise and learn their ABC’s will be made easy for local Clyde North families with new state of the art facilities opening this week.

On Tuesday January 15 2019, YMCA Victoria and Kingswim unveiled an exciting addition to the local Clyde North community, a YMCA Early Learning Centre and Kingswim learn to swim school.

The Y and Kingswim are committed to creating a holistic community hub with both centres contributing to positive childhood development. The learning and development opportunities range from water safety and natural play to physical and cognitive growth.

The modern facilities are located only 15 metres from one another are predicted to become a highly sought-after hub of learning and play for children and their families.

YMCA Victoria General Manager of Children’s Programs, Amanda Locke says together YMCA and Kingswim are creating a community that provides all the early learning essentials children need to thrive.

Research tells us that children who do well in their early years continue to do well throughout their schooling. Early learning is key to growing children’s self-confidence, social and cognitive development, preparing them to thrive throughout their schooling journey and beyond. Furthermore, we also know children who participate in early-years swimming achieve many milestones quicker than other kids – across physical, cognitive and language development. By providing these two world-class teaching facilities in the one central location we’re providing local families a convenient education hub with all the necessary skills for children to thrive. From being safe in the water to developing social, literacy and numeracy skills. Amanda Locke

Kingswim General Manager Alexandra Ash says she’s thrilled to be bringing world-class swimming lessons and water safety and education to the local community:

It’s our mission to ensure every child has access to swimming lessons and the chance to develop the confidence and ability to stay safe in and around the water. We can’t wait to provide kids in the Casey Cardinia area with that opportunity. I think the whole family will be impressed with the new centre, which includes purpose-built areas such as graded pool depths and lane lengths, warm water and pool deck temperatures, immaculate water quality, and family friendly change rooms – making it comfortable for everyone. Alexandra Ash

Amanda says the new early learning centre will bring support and flexibility to the community of Clyde North, with a strong emphasis on learning and play.

Children and families will love Clyde North YMCA Early Learning Centre with its beautifully thought-out natural learning environments for children to explore. Safety, indoor and outdoor play and inclusivity for children of all-abilities are key elements of the centre’s design. Plus, families will have the luxury of both our centre and Kingswim in the one convenient location and soon to be a shopping centre within walking distance. Amanda Locke

The opening of Kingswim and YMCA’s new facilities will bring much-needed services to the local area, which continues to boom. The City of Casey has been one of Victoria’s fastest growing areas since the 1980’s and the population is set to rise another 200,000 to 500,000 over the next 25 years.

When completed Kingswim Clyde North will house a state-of-the art 20m x 6 lane learn to swim indoor pool and provide 200 scheduled swimming classes per week.

Clyde North YMCA Early Learning Centre will provide support to children to learn through play. This not only supports them to develop socially and cognitively, but also gain self-confidence to explore new experiences and environments.
