          By donating to the YMCA, you are helping support local people who are doing it tough. By your gift, you can give them access to our life-changing programs and services. We appreciate your support in helping us give everybody the chance to be healthier, happier and better connected to their community.

          Volunteering with the YMCA is an opportunity for personal and professional growth through assisting with the delivery of programs and services.

With around 8,000 staff and volunteers, we deliver services at more than 150 locations every day in settings including camps, student accommodation, community recreation and sporting facilities, swimming pools, early education, schools and kindergartens, youth services and youth justice facilities.

        Headed by our Chief Executive Peter Burns and a team of experienced YMCA senior leaders, and informed by our dedicated board and locally based Executive Officers, our leadership structure is designed to enable innovation and continuous improvement.

          YMCA Victoria Inc. is governed by a voluntary board of directors who have carriage for the governance of our subsidiary entities that operate our social enterprises. In addition, YMCA operates another incorporated association, Victorian YMCA Youth and Community Services Inc. which governs the benevolent work we undertake in communities throughout Victoria.

        We are able to provide access to people doing it tough thanks to the generous support of others. Along with the support of individual and corporate donors, we also receive funding from philanthropic trusts, foundations and all levels of government.

        The YMCA has been working in the Victorian community since 1853 providing recreation, camping, accommodation and community services. However, the humble beginnings of this great association started a long way from home, in old London town.

      • Hall of Fame

        The YMCA Victoria Hall of Fame recognises our long-serving staff and volunteers and also those who have devoted themselves to achieving the mission of the YMCA and typify what is best about the YMCA.

        • Life members

          Life Membership is awarded to past staff or volunteers who have demonstrated exceptional and enduring leadership, fostered the development of YMCA Victoria, and exemplified the ideals of the YMCA in his or her personal and professional lives.

        • Peter Krenz Exceptional Service Award

          The Peter Krenz Exceptional Service Award recognises staff who have served the YMCA diligently, exceptionally and over a long period of time, who during a lengthy career (minimum 10 years) made an exceptional contribution to YMCA Victoria.

        • Program Pioneer

          The Program Pioneer Award recognises people who played an integral role in the development of YMCA Programs and Services.

        • Rosalie Battaglia Volunteer Award

          Rosalie Battaglia was chairperson of the Knox YMCA. She championed the development of the Association, which provided programs and services for aged people with a disability – The Knox Disabled Persons Project.

        • Thomas Embling Leadership Award

          In the State of Victoria, the first mention of a YMCA was in a letter to a Melbourne newspaper, The Argus from Dr. Thomas Embling dated April 20, 1853. Dr. Embling became the first President of Melbourne YMCA.
