Volunteers at the YMCA share their time, skills, and passion, and make a real difference to our work in creating a healthier, happier and more connected community.
Volunteering with the YMCA is an opportunity for personal and professional growth through assisting with the delivery of programs and services. You will also have the chance to make a valuable contribution to your community.

YMCA Victoria is an Australian Childhood Foundation accredited child safe organisation, and we are committed to safeguarding children and young people in our care. We require all people applying to volunteer to undergo a screening process prior to appointment, and successful applicants must comply with the YMCA’s Safeguarding Children and Young People Framework. Successful applicants will also be required to undergo a police check, hold a valid working with children check, and will receive training relevant to their volunteer role.
Upcoming volunteer opportunity
Volunteers for Southern Dance Festival
In 2007 Youth Leadership and Development partnered with the festival to help raise funds for the Connect program, and in the decade since we have worked together to help raise over $100,000. The money raised through this partnership has allowed 150+ participants engage with the Connect program who would have otherwise been unable to attend.
Volunteering for a shift at the Southern Dance Festival is incredibly easy, and the knowledge that working even just one, four hour shift will help an at risk young person is incredibly rewarding. There are three jobs covered by YMCA Volunteers at the festival: The Door, The Canteen and The Ticket Booth.
