More than a health club membership, you have the opportunity to contribute to your community and the work of the YMCA as a YMCA member.

Get involved with the YMCA and have your say in the community.

Different from other recreation, health club or aquatics memberships, YMCA membership does not give access to facilities and programs. Instead, it helps advance our mission, strengthen the communities in which we serve, and offers everyone an opportunity to participate with the YMCA.

To become a YMCA member, please complete a nomination form and submit it. Your application is then subject to proposal and selection.

Membership fees are applied annually and are valid from July 1 – June 30 each year. Members will be notified when it’s time to renew their membership for the following year. (Fees do not apply.)

Becoming a YMCA member of YMCA Victoria Inc. also encompasses membership of Victorian YMCA Youth and Community Services Inc which supports our benevolent activities. It's a great way to get involved and show your commitment to our vision – ensuring everyone can be healthier, happier and more connected to their community; and helping those who are not.

YMCA membership benefits include:

  • regular updates about changes and developments within the YMCA,
  • meeting like-minded people who share your passion and commitment to the organisation, and
  • an invitation to attend meetings such as our Annual General Meeting, where you can have your say and express your opinions about how we are progressing.

Terms & conditions of membership

YMCA Members must be over 18 years of age to have voting rights.

In addition to any other conditions that may be prescribed, the conditions for admission as a Member are:

  • Download an information sheet and application form.
  • Ensure all sections are completed.
  • YMCA members must propose and second all nomination forms. (Gym or Aquatic members at local YMCA managed centre are not members in this instance). If you do not know an existing YMCA member, email membership.vic@ymca.org.au and we can advise.
  • Applications are reviewed by the Membership Nomination Committee.
  • Applications take no less than 12 weeks to approve; including a notice period and review by existing members.
  • The Board approves or rejects applications for membership subject to the payment of prescribed fees (if any).
  • Successful applicants will be advised in writing.
