It was a beautiful spring morning on September 5 as the Y held their annual event: the 2022 ReBuild Golf Day. Held at the prestigious Huntingdale Golf Course, the day saw over 50 participants compete for a number of prizes and trophies, all while raising funds for a good cause!
The Golf Day fundraiser is extremely important to the Y with all funds raised directly supporting our ReBuild program. ReBuild provides employment to young people who have left prison by training them with vocational skills such as painting, landscaping and carpentry, and then providing commercial maintenance services to customers.
On the day, exciting activities such as the Longest Drive, Closest to Pin and Hole-in-one were on the cards. Players tried their luck to win one of our amazing prizes on offer, including goods supplied by RIXX Eyewear, Clutch & Co Golf Apparel and of course our very own ReBuild custom-made products!
As part of ReBuild’s Trade and Employability Skills program, based at Ravenhall Correctional Centre, participants craft custom wood work pieces. These pieces are available to buy online at the YMCA ReBuild shop. We invest all proceeds back into the ReBuild program, so any purchase makes a big difference to these young people.
The ReBuild Golf Day raised over $25,000, which will help us make a difference in young people’s lives throughout our community.
We appreciate all those who participated in the day – it was a huge success and lots of fun!
How to support the Y
Without these types of fundraisers, we couldn’t do the work that we do. We rely on the public’s generosity to keep going.
