Riders test out upgraded Bunyip BMX track

More than 70 people attended a BMX Jam at Bunyip's upgraded track in the final week of the winter school holidays.

The event marked the opening of the revamped track at Bunyip Sanctuary, delivered by YMCA Victoria in partnership with Cardinia Shire Council.

State-level BMX rider Ravine Kelly ran the coaching sessions alongside the Y team.

The upgrade was designed in response to community feedback. Changes include a refreshed track layout and surface, jumps for different skill levels, a junior pump track, better drainage, landscaping, improved path connections and new spectator amenities.

Families and spectators lined the track to watch riders of all ages and abilities take on the jumps.

Brett Royden, who led delivery on the day, said it was good to see a space the community could use to build skills and have fun.

The upgraded track is open now at 71 Wattletree Road, Bunyip.
