YMCA Victoria has announced the appointment of respected governance and community leader Kate Roffey AM as Chair of its Board, effective 26 August 2026.
Kate brings extensive executive and governance experience across the sport, education, government and community sectors. She currently serves as CEO of Victorian State Sport Centres Trust and Deputy Chancellor of Victoria University.
Kate served on the Melbourne Football Club Board for more than a decade after joining in 2013, including as the Club's first female President. During this time, she led the club through one of the most successful periods in its recent history, including AFL and AFLW premiership success.
Kate said she is honoured to be appointed Chair.
“YMCA Victoria has a long and impressive history of creating opportunities for young people and communities to thrive. Through my own background in sport and community leadership and governance, I know how important organisations like the Y are in continuing to provide support that is focused on delivering positive wellbeing outcomes for the communities we serve. I look forward to working with our Board, CEO, leadership team and staff as we continue to strengthen our social impact outcomes,” Kate said.
YMCA Victoria Deputy Chair Renee Hancock said Kate emerged as the standout candidate following a comprehensive search process.

Outgoing Chair Dr McMillan said: “I am proud that, over the past five years, Y Victoria has built a strong foundation for its next chapter as part of a global movement. The organisation is in excellent hands with Kate as Chair. She brings strong values-led leadership, deep experience and a genuine commitment to inspiring and empowering young people and communities to thrive.”
