Research & Evaluation Partners

At YMCA Victoria, we believe evidence-informed decision making is essential to delivering services that create meaningful and lasting community impact. Through strategic partnerships with leading research institutions, we strengthen our understanding of how our programs, facilities and services support health, wellbeing and social outcomes across Victoria.

Our research and evaluation partnerships help us measure impact, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure we continue responding to the evolving needs of the communities we serve.

Supporting Health and Wellbeing Through Research

Since 2019, the Deakin Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) has partnered with YMCA Victoria, working alongside the City of Boroondara to better understand how Boroondara Leisure and Aquatic Facilities (BLAF) support the health and wellbeing of the local community.

This research provides valuable insights into participation, inclusion and community outcomes, helping to inform improvements to facility access, program delivery and customer experience.

The partnership also supports the development of YMCA Victoria's broader evaluation frameworks, strengthening our ability to measure impact, make evidence-based decisions and respond to the evolving needs of the communities we serve.

By combining academic research with community experience, we can better understand what works and continue creating healthier, more connected and more inclusive communities.
